Weight Control: New Year's Resolution: A 10-day Fast
Hypnotists are people too. We have issues, problems, challenges. Me, lately, I’ve been gaining weight. And I know why: divorce.
Yes, during the last 6 months I’ve been a touch upset in my personal life. As a result, I’ve spent a lot more time in bakeries than I usually do. Comfort Eating, it’s called. As a result of that, I’ve gained about 6 kilos.
Now then, I’m not really overweight. I’m in good health and pretty good shape. I run half-marathons and I practice Tae Kwon Do. But still, ever since I’ve gained weight, I’ve noticed I don’t run as fast or “spar” in my TKD class like I used to. Part of the problem, certainly, is age. I’m in my late fifties. Yet I know the extra weight is a problem. I don’t like how it slows me down. I don’t like how it feels around my middle. I don’t like how it looks.
What to do?
Well, for the first time in my life, I’ve made a New Year’s Resolution to lose weight.
I’m currently about 78 kilos. My normal weight is 72. That means I need to lose 6. And, I might add, lose it and keep it off.
How am I going to do it? Through a combination of hypnosis, dieting and exercise.
In general, I need to eat less carbs, but specifically breads and desserts. They are my big weaknesses. To achieve this, I’m going to use self-hypnosis to do four things: (1) return to my previous eating habits, largely based on the Mediterranean Diet; (2) cut way back on sweets and breads; (3) start the year with a 10-day fast; and (4) join a new gym that’s just opened in my neighborhood.
These four points will help me return to my natural weight of 72 kilos. I’m going to reinforce them with daily 15-minute sessions of self-hypnosis during the month of January.
So, tomorrow morning, the 10-day fast begins…
